Rainbows Over Sochi: Daily Reports

(What’s this about, anyway? Worum geht’s hier?)

Day 06: Eleven stripes, 13 tickets! / Tag 06: Elf Streifen, 13 Lose!

This is what it looks like today:
So sieht’s heute aus:

The first of the two balls of rainbow yarn is finished, so it’s pretty much half-time \o/
It’s soooo soft, and since I washed the yarn with Perwoll, it smells so frakking good #drool

Day 01: Starting to knit! / Tag 01: Anfangen zu stricken!

I bought a light gray as the contrast color, and started knitting immediately:

And this is two hours later.

The first rows of a triangular shawl are always quick work, but the progress will slow down soon.

Day -1: Washing the yarn / Tag -1: Die Wolle waschen

As planned, I washed the yarn yesterday, and it bled like woah!

As you can see, the water is nearly black, and the color-catcher cloths(?) I added are pretty stained too.
I’m a bit horrified to be honest O.O
Anyway, I had been planning to cut out the dark blue section anyway, since I think it doesn’t look like rainbow, and I think it’s mostly the dark blue that gives off color.

In other news: TICKETS :-D
200 of them to be exact!

Ausserdem: LOSE :-D
200 Stück!

Day -9: The yarn arrived / Tag -9: Die Wolle ist da

Yesterday, the yarn arrived \o/

Unfortunately, the Zauberball has a reputation for bleeding, i.e., for giving off color when it gets wet. I’ve actually seen that myself: I recently crocheted a shawl out of a black-green Zauberball, and after rinsing it four times, the water was still distinctly green.

So, since I’d rather like to use white as the contrast color, I will wash the yarn before knitting.
